Six months have passed since the terrifying battle with Charlie Pink-eye and the Motor City Hammer in the zombie-infested mountains of the Rot & Ruin. The book is called FLESH & BONE, not ‘Fire’, and there is no connection at all to 9/11. You misread the title.

I loved Rot and Ruin and Dust and Decay…..they should be made into a movie.

Not always. The Harry Potter movies were great; as are the Lord of the Rings adaptations. And based on the trailer for the Hunger Games, that looks like a faithful and exciting film version.

My Husband and I loved your books, Rot and Ruin, Dust and Decay. He couldnt stop talking about your books so then i had to read them. He even named one of his xbox gamertags….. closure artist and the description was in dedication to Tom Imura. He has calmed down alot since then but just wanted you to know that you are a great writing from what we read. The story line was great and we cant wait until the third one comes out

One of my 8th grade students turned me on to the series… I read them both this weekend – I literally couldn’t put them down. I can’t wait to read what happens next!

I love these books. I’m a senior in college and I openly sobbed while I was reading the ending of Dust and Decay in the lobby of the business building. WHY?

I just finished Dust & Decay and now I can’t stop crying. I really, really loved it though.
My middle school does daily silent sustained reading and has challenged our students to read 40 books this year. Rot and Ruin was the first book one of my eight graders read from start to finish. He then
told me I HAD to read it. Reluctantly I did so! Enjoyed it more than i thought and have just finished Dust and Decay. There’s now a long waiting list for both books in our school library.

MOVIE! MOVIE! MOVIE! This series literally is my favorite book series i have ever read! As long as they dont screw it up and you (john) work very closely with the production it will be the best movie ever. i cannot wait to read the third and to see how the aftermath of Dust and Decay plays out.

Currently just finished Dust and Decay. just thought id let you know that it and rot & ruin are absolutely tremendous books i didnt think that there was going to be another one the way you ended this one but then i read that there is going to be 2 more books!? thats amazing news im soo happy and i also loved the fact you made yourself a zombie card!?! you should make and sell some they are soo cool!! or a movie would be nice lol you could go far with this series! Last thing because i feel im writing too much lol is that your zombie card says you live in PA, as do i and wanted to say: Way to represent!!
Mr. Maberry, I just wanted to let you know that I have never contacted an author about their book before, but I felt obligated to contact you. Your stories are about so much more than zombies. They are about people. And I am not ashamed to admit that I openly cried with the ending of Dust and Decay. Tom was my favorite character. I was not upset with you when you killed him off, I applaud you. Most authors do not have the guts to do that. And so I close with one final question, is there going to be a movie?

Im 14 . and even though its for kids, I’m utterly shocked with the story and how it could relate to the world ending……not with a bang, but a bite. Cant wait for you to write another fantastic novel! PS, you have some typos in Dead Of Night but still a god one.
I love your books I’m excited to find out there will be more to dust and decay and I really can’t wait at all. You put so much more into your books than other post apocalyptic zombie writers. These should be made into movies <3

Flesh & Bone, not Fire.
The fourth book will be called FIRE & ASH, and will be released in August 2013. The book being released on Sept 11 of this year is FLESH & BONE. There is no connection at all to the events of 9/11 or the Towers. 9/11 is a Tuesday and all books are released on Tuesdays.
Really looking forward to Flesh & Bone Mr. Maberry. thoroughly enjoyed the series so far, its at the top of my list. keep up the good work!

i am totally psyched to find out that there will be a sequel to Dust and Decay. there should also be a movie series based on the books but not if they turn out like the Eragon movie.
If we do a movie, I can promise that it will be very faithful to the books.
HOLY!! I read this and I finished it in 3 days…thats how much I loved it..and I still do. It made me cry, and it wasnt a normal cry, I was sobbing and all that! I can’t believe Flesh and Bone is going to go on sale on September 11th I cant wait that long!

i loved that character soo much. I really didn’t believe that you would actually kill him off! It kind of immortalizes him i think… Well done sir…. I’m expecting to be blown away again when Flesh and Bone comes out in Sept. thanks for the novels!
I just finished “Ghost Road Blues” and I have started the sequel, or ONE of them, “Dead Mans Song”. I understand that there is a THIRD book in this series about the town of Deep Pine. I think this author should be ashamed of himself. I feel like Ive read the same book twice. I’m sure the third is just as pedantic as the first two. The writer, (and his reader, in my case) could definately benefit from a better editor. Either that, he is just turning out the same thing over and over to sell more books. Stephen King has nothing to worry about.
You NEED to continue this series! Just finished Dust & Decay and I’m already craving more! BTW I cried at the end. EXCELENT book!!!!

I read A LOT. Finished “Ghost Road Blues” last night and started “Dead Man’s Song”. I kinda feel cheated because I feel like I’m reading the same book TWICE. plus I understand there is a THIRD book in this series. This author would benefit from a better editor, either that, or he is just trying to sell more books. If so, this author should be ashamed. He takes three books to tell ONE kinda stupid Freddie Kruger-ish kind of stupid story. The guy can write; I really like the two main characters, so I will keep reading, but I skip over a lot of the repetitive, pedantic stuff. O.K, O.K,we get it, the bad guy is EVIL. Blood, guts, more of the SAME blood, guts. Blah blah blah. These novels would have made one very good book instead of 3 kinda crappy,dumb books. Thankfully, I didn’t purchase them, or I would be REALLY pissed. Stephen King’s got nothing to worry about.

Mr. Maberry, i loved your books ROT & RUIN, DUST & DECAY. They are by far the best 2 books I have ever read (considering I’ve only lived 13 years)I can’t wait for the next book, and the next, and the next. The only thing I would like to see more of is the zombie cards, the picture of the character and description really helps.

I just finished reading Dust & Decay and I can’t wait until Flesh & Bone is released in September! I have read all of your books, Mr. Maberry and right now I can’t even pick out which is my favorite. I love the Pine Deep trilogy (great scary stuff!!) but then there is Joe Ledger and his adventures, which I truly love and now the Imura books! You are an amazing author and I can’t wait to read more of your books as I have read every single one of them.

I absolutely love your books! I can’t get enough! I read both of the books in 2 days(=. When I was reading I could picture every detail in my head, you know? I bought Dust&Decay at Sam’s thinking it would be an ordinary book but NO it surprised me! (Excellent cover by the way; people have stopped me in the halls to ask about the book and to say the cover entices them; keep your jacket designer.) Can’t wait until the 3rd and 4th one come out; when the movie comes out, I’m definitely watching it

I just Finished Dust and Decay. It broke my heart, but it was wonderfully played out. You’re a great author, and i look forward to reading Flesh & Bone, as well as finding a copy of patient zero.

I think your writing is amazing. I caught Family Business as a short story in an anthology and even made my husband the nonreader read it. I then went back and found the Imura series, I just finished Dust & Decay last night. I actually woke up in the middle of the night thinking about it. As much as your books break my heart sometimes the overall story is too good to not take the sorrow with the victories.

I mean come on i have read a LOT of books, and you are my second favorite author.(Sorry Cassanda Clare got to me first) and I would just fall over if you told me you wernt gonna make a third one. i finished both of them in a day (bought the first wouldent read it till i got the second) and have read them 3 more times sense then.A movie would be nice to…..But it wouldent be able to compete with the book.This comment is getting kinda long so im gonna stop now….

These books were honestly some of the best I’ve read, and I’ve read a lot of books! I succeeded in getting my parents–and even some of my “too cool for school” friends to read the series, and they all became obsessed. I’m so glad the story hasn’t ended here. You’re very gifted with words… Please push for getting it to the big screen!!

My 12 yr old son absolutely loved these books. We took ROT AND RUIN out of the library on CD and listened to it in the car while on a trip. We only made it about 1/2 way through by the time we were home. He took the CD’s into his room and listened to them every day after school while following along in the book. I had to get DUST AND DECAY as soon as he finished and he listened to that one constantly. He loves discussing different scenes from the stories with me. We are so excited that you are considering a movie. It will be awesome. Can’t wait for book 4 in September. We will be reading it together

Mr.Maberry i have been a big fan since Rot and Ruin. I have loved your books. Me and my friends minds have changed about Zombies. I use to think just kill them, but you completely changed my mind. They were once people. If a Zombie Apocalypse actually happened i would use your books and use some of the book as a survival guide. Oh and i have some suggestions. You should actually make zombie cards and make it a series to collect them all. And one quick Question if a movie were to happen would you let fans try out for a role, or let some hot shot movie starts do it. One last thing if i may can i make a character in one of your books. I have made most of my friends read your books. Your books have changed my way of how i look at zombies. Iuse to think just kill them there not alive, but now i think they use to be people too. i havent read the second book, but i read the first. it was fantastic, maybe you could rack up some money and play it out like the folks did with the hunger games…… create a movie!Heck id be the first at the theater for this movie………….and STAR WARS EP.7 but im starting to doubt that.

There are only four books planned for the ROT & RUIN series, and that ends with FIRE & ASH. However, there will be all sorts of additional stories (short stories, bonus scenes, and novelettes), beginning with DEAD & GONE, which debuts in August.

I love these books. As far as zombie flicks go, I thought they definitely top the list. I thought the genre was getting saturated, but you proved that there’s always a fresh way to write things.
I actually sort of hope that there won’t be a movie, because I don’t think it could ever live up to the book.
Rot and ruin was the first book i had read in three years and now i’m hooked on the series i fished dust and decay and i’m very excited for flesh and bone. However i don,t want this series to be turned into a movie, it would ruin it. This series is a work of art and is only compatible with the media it’s on. THE BOOKS!!!!!
Best books ever. Enough said. And i was thinking ” Tom freakin live, you’re too boss to die ” but my thoughts changed nothing XD. Again, one of the best series i have ever read, and cant wait for next to come!
